What I wore in Hawaii
Cruise collections are meant to be worn on your tropical vacation during the winter…and I was fortunate enough to collect a few Chanel Cruise 2022/23 pieces before I left for Hawaii.
This year’s collection is inspired by Moncao, and had a fun and vibrant vibe with some very special pieces. Here’s what I wore on my trip.
A wise man once said, if you want to compliment a woman on her Chanel piece, complement her buttons.
Wore these on repeat:
White tweed jacket (Look 33): Super lightweight. An iconic Chanel jacket in such gorgeous color and cut - one that you’ll find occasions to wear throughout the year. I wore this over a black dress and black top/skirt, but I look forward to wearing more casually with jeans once it starts to warm up in California.
Black glittered cotton jacket (Look 61): I was dreaming of this well before it arrived in boutique, and all of the evening outfits that would just be more perfect with a glittered shrug. The cotton fabric and large weave make it perfect for warm evenings. All of the embellishment makes it a bit heavy, so I’m storing it lying flat.
Black button down dress (Look 45): Wore this silk satin dress shopping, to breakfast at the hotel, to a casual dinner - I found it always suited the occasion. It didn’t wrinkle much, and when it did I felt that it released fairly easily. At the Halekulani I ran into another woman wearing it - looked very chic on her too :) The belt didn’t arrive in time, so I paired it with my small top handle cross-body card case to give some definition.
Terry striped shirt (Look 11): This top has the cutest Chanel buttons and the terry fabric is perfect for summer. It’s a little cropped, so it works better with high waisted skirts/pants.
Black sheer top (Look 44): Interestingly, this is called a jacket on Chanel’s website, and by the construction it could be used as one, albeit a very sheer / light jacket. I’ve been dying for a sheer button down reminiscent of the outfit Cher wears in the driver’s test scene in Clueless. I tried Prada’s version but it wrinkled too easily - this one from Chanel doesn’t wrinkle and is just so fun to wear over a short skirt. I plan on wearing it with trousers to work during the summer.
