Wishlist for Spring Summer 2023

The Prada Spring/Summer 2023 show for the women’s collection by Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons was one of my favorites this year. Of this collection, Miuccia Prada said that they meditated on the idea of “clothes shaped by humanity,” or in other words, clothes lived in by the people wearing them. This was apparent in the pre-laiden wrinkles and creases in the sweaters and skirts.

For me, it was a dream composed of all the things I always want to wear. Slip dresses in interesting shapes and colors, asymmetrical skirts under oversized sweaters, and gauzy coats sheer enough to hint at the dress underneath. Even if they may not seem to all fit together at first, it makes sense in the end.

Here are the looks on my wishlist that I can’t wait to try on…

Very Wednesday Addams. Love the Prada logo lace detail on the front, and how airy the fabric was when watching the show. Similar to Chanel Spring Summer, you really need to watch the clothes move to appreciate them fully.

While I’m not sure this color or cut will work on me, I loved the watercolor effect along the edges, and how it almost appeared as though the dress was painted onto a cream sheet of paper.

Love that this shade of grey is feeling very fresh again, and the interesting layers under the skirt were so playful and unexpected.

Loved the rumpled school teacher vibe of this look, and how the edges look almost hand torn. I could see myself wearing this to a chic dinner for my birthday and feeling super cool in it :)

Another take on the slip dress, this time with another interesting set of colors. Sometimes I think this neckline can be more forgiving in silk dresses, and while the top is covered up, the slit keeps it interesting.

This is a dream look that I will probably never wear in real life, but always wish I could. The fabric looks almost like a gauzy sponge, and the colors particularly with the pink shoes are so cool.

I’ve always wanted a sheer organza coat but haven’t found the perfect one yet. Prada showed many styles that look to be good contenders…

Are skinny pants making a comeback? While I may not buy this exact look, the idea of it feels cool and powerful, like you could take on the world. Again, the interesting color choice of shoes is exciting.

You might have noticed that I’ve now said “cool” a few too many times. One of the best things about Prada is that when you wear her clothes, you just feel…cool. I always seem to reach for Prada when deciding what to wear to work events because it always seems to fit the occasion while offering an interesting take.

Prada makes clothes meant to be lived in… that feel good whether you’ve worn it one time or one thousand times. And so it only makes sense that this collection is built around this very notion - and why I’m always so excited to see what they’re doing next.

One of the most educational videos about Prada is by stylist Kate Young. If you’re at all a fan of the brand - highly recommend checking it out 🙂
